Reel Tracker
Last updated: 21 June 2026
Reel Tracker collects nothing. It has no internet permission, no account, and no
servers. Everything stays on your device.
Reel Tracker is a personal digital-wellbeing tool that counts how many short-video
reels you watch (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube Shorts) so you can stay
mindful of your scrolling.
What we access, and why
-
Accessibility service. The app uses Android's Accessibility API
for a single purpose: to detect when you are watching a full-screen reel or Short
in a supported app, so it can add 1 to a counter. It reads on-screen content of
those apps only in the moment, to recognise a reel. This content
is never recorded, stored, or transmitted. You can turn the
service off any time in Settings → Accessibility.
-
Display over other apps (optional). Used only to draw the
floating counter bubble over the reel apps. It contains no personal data.
-
Notifications (optional). Used for the ongoing counter and limit
reminders.
What is stored, and where
The following is stored only in the app's private storage on your device:
- A count of reels you have watched, with timestamps and the local date.
- Your chosen name and your in-app settings (daily limit, toggles).
There is no cloud copy. Device backup is disabled, so this data is not included in
Google account backups. Uninstalling the app permanently erases all of it.
What we do NOT do
- Collect, transmit, sell, or share any data.
- Use analytics, advertising, tracking, or third-party SDKs that collect data.
- Require an account or sign-in.
-
The app has no internet permission, so it is technically
incapable of sending data anywhere.
Children
Reel Tracker collects no personal data from anyone, including children.
Trademarks
Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube are trademarks of their respective owners.
Reel Tracker is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or
sponsored by any of them.
